History...

The Club was originally formed in late 1972 by Mr Gerald Cullis, a keen modeller and local shop keeper.  His shop was located at no 14 Ongar Road in Brentwood, one side sold babywear and the other side a modelling shop.

With a suitable site and flying permission sought the Club quickly grew and joined the S.M.A.E. In May 1973 which later in 1987 became known as the BMFA (our affiliation # 0037).

The Clubs first home in Brentwood was a small field near the 2nd world war Marconi radar station. This was quickly outgrown and a more suitable site was sought. After much consultation a larger field, owned by the local parish council was offered in 1986, which we still use today. Some of the original founding members are still flying with us.

Today...

Today we are a fully affiliated club with the BMFA and enjoy a healthy membership, flying both fixed wing and helicopters. We can teach you to fly and obtain your A certificate, using the modern buddy box system.

Over the years many things have changed but one thing remains constant; the fact that we still enjoy helping new members both young & old explore this fantastic hobby.  There is also still time for a chat about the good old days.
